Our Ministry in Mexico City

Ministry for the Long-Term

8/27/2015

One of the aspects that I was more concerned with before coming to Mexico City was the longevity of our ministry. By that I simply mean that missionary work must never be only about the missionary. Discipleship, training, preparing men are all vital components for the furtherance of the Gospel in any field. When or if the missionary leaves the field, the work must continue, and my wife and I wanted the preparation of men to be the main priority in our ministry.
For the last couple of months I have been meeting with several men that expressed a desire to consider full-time ministry in the future.
I am rejoicing to share with you that one of them, Esaú, has accepted God's call for ministry. He is 17 years old, and therefore there is a long road before us as we look towards the future, but it is exciting to see fellow nationals joining the call. Also, another young man, Christopher, has made it very clear that God is definitely working in his heart to be in ministry full-time. Praise the Lord.
In addition to these news, it is my pleasure to also share with you that a family from the US whose church we visited not too long ago, contacted me to let me know that God has called them to missions work in Mexico City. Again, the road is long before they can join us here, but we are humbled to see a potential team of church planters being assembled for the most rewarding job there is. We are eager to see what God will accomplish here in Mexico City and we continue to ask God to send more laborers to His harvest.

Ministry Beginnings

We arrived in Mexico City almost three months ago. In such a short period of time, we have seen the Lord work in amazing ways! Exactly one month after we arrived here, He provided us with a beautiful, already furnished home in a great location. This home has been such a blessing to our family. As we have settled in, we have gotten to work. Josue has been studying the Bible with 6-7 men each week, and one of the young men he has been working with has surrendered to the ministry. We are very excited to see how the Lord will use this young man.
We also have had the opportunity to organize a Sunday night youth group after the evening service. The young people have responded very well to this time of teaching and fellowship. This past Saturday, we had a special open house breakfast at the church. We invited many people in our neighborhood, and one young lady and her sister came to the breakfast. We had close to 40 first-time guests at the breakfast. Today, we took the teenagers to a local hospital and passed out sandwiches and water, along with a church invitation, to those waiting outside the hospital. We were able to pass out over 100 invitations to the church in this way.
